Realism: "Rescued by Rover" (1905) by Cecil Milton Hepworth

  • A short movie about a baby getting stolen and how a dog finds and rescues her.
  • First movie that used shots as clips (continous activity, showing movement from one frame to another)
PLOT THEMES:
-social classes (the old lady stealing the baby of rich people)
-parenting
-true friend> a dog
It is REALISM, but not NATURALISM
Realistic elements: (though there are several fake elements)
-real people
-real places
-real scenes
-real issues
NOT naturalim, because we cannot go into their minds, find out what they are thinking, because they are not able to talk or to express themselves verbally, it is a soundless film..
